Marion County, FL - 38-Year-Old Man Killed in Pedestrian Crash on US 440

Marion County, FL (January 20, 2021) - A 38-year-old man was killed after he was struck by a car on U.S. 441 on Wednesday morning. The collision took place in the inside lanes of the roadway near Southeast 156th Street. 

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was walking with his bicycle when he was hit by a sedan. The driver of the sedan told troopers that he failed to see the man. The pedestrian suffered critical injuries and was later pronounced dead. His identity has not been released at this time. There were no additional injuries reported.

An investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.

Pedestrian accidents in Florida take place multiple times each day. According to current statistics, there are at least two fatalities reported every day in pedestrian crashes, and many more will be injured. The odds of being hurt or killed in a Florida pedestrian crash are far greater than crashes involving vehicles.
