Sumter County, FL - Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Multiple Cars on County Road 44A

Sumter County, FL (January 24, 2021) - The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a fatal pedestrian crash in Sumter County on Friday, January 22nd. The crash happened just before midnight near County Road 44A.

According to troopers, the pedestrian was walking in the outside lane of the roadway. At the same time, a pickup truck and an SUV were traveling eastbound on State Road 44. The 23-year-old pedestrian was hit by both vehicles. When rescue crews arrived, they pronounced the unidentified pedestrian dead at the accident scene. There were no other injuries reported in the crash and there is no word on whether charges are expected to be filed.

Anyone with information regarding the accident is asked to call the Florida Highway Patrol at 813-558-1800.
