Lutz, FL - One Killed in Two-Car Crash on U.S. 41

Lutz, FL (February 8, 2021) - One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 41 in Lutz. The accident took place around 4:40 a.m. on Monday, February 8th.

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene. According to troopers, a 34-year-old man from Port Richey was traveling southbound on U.S. 41 when she came to a traffic light with a red signal. At the same time, a 71-year-old woman from Jacksonville was traveling southbound in a sedan when she crashed into the rear of the other vehicle. The woman suffered critical injuries and died at a local hospital. The man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Neither has been identified at this time.

An investigation remains ongoing and there is no further information available. 

Serious and fatal car accidents in Florida take place each day, multiple times per day. According to statistics, more than 3,000 people lost their lives in Florida car accidents in 2019. Many of these crash victims were injured or killed due to the actions of a negligent driver and were not at fault for the occurrence of the crash.
