Volusia County, FL - Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on State Road 44

Volusia County, FL (February 10, 2021) - Two people died following a crash between a van and a motorcycle on Wednesday in Volusia County. The accident took place at approximately 6:30 p.m. along State Road 44 near New Smyrna Beach.

According to officials, a 78-year-old man from Titusville was driving a van on SR 44 when he crashed into the back of a motorcycle. The motorcycle driver, a 69-year-old man from Edgewater died at the crash scene. The 78-year-old man was initially walking around and conscious following the crash, however, he later suffered a medical episode at the scene and died as a result. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the accident its cause at this time. No one involved in the collision has been identified.
