Fort Myers, FL (February 13, 2021) - A man from Cape Coral was killed in a three-vehicle crash that took place in Fort Myers on Thursday, February 11th. The accident happened just after 4:00 p.m. on Luckett Road near Interstate 75.
According to police, a 26-year-old Cape Coral man and a 19-year-old man from Fort Myers were traveling eastbound on Luckett Road. At the same time, a 44-year-old woman from Fort Myers was operating a pickup truck and was stopped on the northbound off-ramp of I-75. The woman entered the eastbound lanes of Luckett Road when her truck collided with the motorcycle driven by the 26-year-old man. The motorcycle driven by the 19-year-old man struck the back of the pickup.
The 26-year-old man died at the scene while the 19-year-old man was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital with critical injuries. The 44-year-old woman was treated for minor injuries. No one involved in the accident has been identified.
An investigation is ongoing at this time.
According to statistics, a reportable crash happens in Florida about once every 90 seconds. These accidents involve cars, motorcycles, pedestrians, bicycles, and others.
