Collier County, FL  (February 22, 2021) - A Miccosukee police officer is dead after a crash on I-75 on Sunday morning. The crash happened just after 1:00 a.m.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the officer was operating his patrol car westbound on I-75 near mile marker 51 when a tire blew out. The vehicle then veered off the roadway and traveled into the median before it rolled over several times and came to rest. The officer, who was not immediately identified, was thrown from the car and landed in the median. He was pronounced dead at the scene by rescue crews. No other injuries were reported in the accident.
