Hendry County, FL (February 26, 2021) - The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a fatal car accident in Hendry County on Friday, February 26th. The incident took place on State Road 29 near A. Road. 

According to a report from the FHP, a 61-year-old man was traveling westbound on A. Road near SR 29. At the same time, a 50-year-old man was driving a van northbound on SR 29. The 61-year-old driver failed to yield the right-of-way to the other vehicle and the two cars collided in the intersection. A 28-year-old passenger in the second vehicle was killed in the crash. His identity has not been released. Both drivers also sustained critical injuries and receiving treatment at a local hospital. The crash caused significant delays near the scene.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing. No further information has been released.

According to current statistics, a reportable crash in Florida takes place approximately once every 92 seconds. When a Florida car accident occurs, the incident must be carefully investigated in order to determine which driver should be held responsible. With the large majority of collisions, at least one driver's negligence will be a resulting cause of the crash.
