Ocala, FL - Pedestrian Killed in Tuesday Crash on I-95

Ocala, FL (March 3, 2021) - The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a fatal crash involving a pedestrian on Tuesday in Ocala. The accident took place around 7:40 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-75 near mile marker 358.

Troopers say that a Kissimmee man was driving an SUV on I-75 when he collided with the pedestrian. Following the first collision, a second car slammed into the back of the SUV and a third car struck the second car. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene while three others were transported to a local hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. The identities of those involved were not released.

An investigation is ongoing at this time.

Pedestrian accidents in Florida take place multiple times each day. According to current statistics, there are at least two fatalities reported every day in pedestrian crashes, and many more will be injured. The odds of being hurt or killed in a Florida pedestrian crash are far greater than crashes involving vehicles.
