Collier County, FL (March 4, 2021) - Two women from Punta Gorda were hurt in a crash that took place in Collier County on Wednesday, March 3rd. The collision occurred around 9:30 a.m. on Interstate 75 near mile marker 107.
According to officials, a tractor-trailer was traveling southbound in the center lane of the highway. At the same time, a van was also traveling southbound. As the van and tractor-trailer were adjacent to one another, the tractor-trailer suffered a tire blowout. The driver lost control of the truck, causing it to sideswipe the van before both vehicles traveled into the median and collided with a barrier. Two passengers in the van, a 23-year-old woman, and a 20-year-old woman, were hurt in the crash. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not hurt. There is no word on any charges at this time.
