Palmetto, FL - One Killed in Two-Car Crash on 27th Street East

Palmetto, FL (March 5, 2021) - One person is dead following a crash between two vehicles in Palmetto. The collision took place around 1:00 a.m. at the intersection of 27th Street East and 4th Avenue East.

Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene. According to reports, an SUV was traveling southbound on 27th Street when it came to a stop sign at the intersection. As the SUV traveled into the intersection, it collided with a sedan that was traveling southbound. A 64-year-old passenger in the sedan died in the collision. The 60-year-old driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. The SUV driver was not injured.

Police are still investigating the accident. There is no word on potential charges. No further information is available at this time.

According to statistics, a reportable crash happens in Florida about once every 90 seconds. These accidents involve cars, motorcycles, pedestrians, bicycles, and others. While not all crashes result in injuries, many of them do. These accidents can be life-threatening and can have impacts for weeks, months, and even years following the crash.
