Lake County, FL - Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on County Road 42

Lake County, FL (March 7, 2021) - A motorcyclist died following a crash with an SUV in Lake County on Friday. The collision took place on County Road 42 near Big Oak Road.

According to a report from the scene, a 68-year-old motorcyclist from Oklawaha was stopped on Big Oak Road. At the same time, an SUV was traveling westbound on CR 42 and attempted to make a left turn. As the driver turned, his car collided with the motorcyclist, ejecting him from his bike. The motorcyclist was transported to Waterman Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. His identity has not been released at this time. There is no word on the condition of the driver. 

The crash is still under investigation and no further information is available.

Riding a motorcycle is a dangerous activity. According to statistics, about 500 people are killed each year in motorcycle accidents in Florida. This accounts for about 20% of all reported fatal crashes in Florida. While many people enjoy riding motorcycles, the risks cannot be understated.
