Thonotosassa, FL (January 9, 2020) - A man was killed in a pedestrian crash that took place on U.S. 301 in Thonotosassa on Friday, January 8th. The crash took place around 4:00 p.m.

According to authorities, the man was walking across the highway in an eastbound direction when he was struck by an SUV driven by a 65-year-old man from Zephyrhills. The vehicle was attempting to pass another car in the roadway's merge lane when the crash occurred. The pedestrian, who has not been identified at this time, was rushed to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. Alcohol did not play a role in the accident and the driver of the vehicle was not injured.
