Collier County, FL (January 7, 2021) - A man from Cape Coral and a woman from Immokalee sustained injuries in a three-vehicle accident in Collier County on Thursday. The crash was reported around 6:30 a.m. on County Road 850, just sough of Whidden Loop.

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the accident scene. According to troopers, a 44-year-old man from Cape Coral was operating his vehicle northbound on CR 850. A 48-year-old Immokalee woman was also northbound in front of an SUV driven by a 43-year-old man from Fort Myers. The Cape Coral man failed to maintain control of his vehicle, causing it to veer into the other lane and collide with the Immokalee woman's vehicle. The man suffered serious injuries while the woman sustained minor injuries. The Fort Myers man was not hurt in the accident.

Troopers are still investigating the accident at this time. No further information is available.

According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, there were approximately 400,000 car accidents in Florida in 2019. These numbers prove just how dangerous the roadways in the Sunshine State can be.
