Port Richey, FL (January 6, 2021) - A 79-year-old pedestrian was killed in a crash that took place Tuesday on U.S. 19 in Port Richey. The accident happened around 7:00 p.m. near Springer Drive.

According to a report from the scene, a 45-year-old man from Hudson was driving northbound on U.S. 19 when he struck the female pedestrian. The pedestrian, who has not been identified, died at the accident scene. The driver of the SUV was not hurt in the accident. The crash caused U.S. 19 to be closed near Springer and the intersection with Ridge Road. Motorists were urged to find alternate routes of travel. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
