DeSoto County, FL (October 4, 2020) - Police and rescue workers were at the scene of a crash involving two vehicles in DeSoto County on Saturday, October 3rd. The crash took place around 1:30 a.m. on SW Hawk Road near County Road 769.
Police say that a 16-year-old driver was traveling southbound on Hawk Road when he veered into the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a pickup truck driven by a 17-year-old. Both cars then slammed into a guardrail following impact. The two teens were taken to a local hospital where the 16-year-old was being treated for life-threatening injuries. The 17-year-old is believed to have non-life-threatening injuries. A 19-year-old passenger in the pickup was not injured in the crash.
There is no word on what caused the accident to take place at this time. The Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating. No additional details are available.
