Jacksonville, FL (September 25, 2020) - The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a fatal pedestrian crash in Jacksonville on Thursday evening. The crash took place on the entrance ramp to I-295 northbound.

According to troopers, a 78-year-old man was walking on the ramp when he was struck by a sedan. The man, who has not been identified, died at the crash scene. There were no other injuries reported. There is no word on whether the driver remained at the scene following the crash and it is not clear if any charges are expected.

No additional information is available at this time.

Pedestrian accidents in Florida claim the lives of about 500 people every year. Many others will be seriously injured and will suffer permanent injuries in these major crashes.
