Ocala, FL - One Killed in Friday Car Accident on I-75

Ocala, FL (October 9, 2020) - A woman was killed in a crash involving a tractor-trailer in Ocala on Friday. The crash took place around noon in the northbound lanes of I-75.

The Florida Highway Patrol arrived at the scene around 12:15 p.m. According to troopers, a woman, age 54, was driving in the northbound lanes when a tractor-trailer merged into the path of her vehicle. The woman swerved to avoid a collision with the big rig. She then lost control of her vehicle and veered off the roadway. Her car overturned and ejected her as it rolled over. The tractor-trailer stopped at the scene following the incident. 

Rescue crews arrived at the scene and provided medical aid to the woman, however, she later succumbed to her injuries. Her identity has not been released at this time. Police have not said whether the driver of the tractor-trailer faces any charges at this time. 

An investigation is ongoing. There is no further information available.
