Ocala, FL (October 9, 2020) - A motorcyclist was killed in a crash that took place on State Road 40 in Ocala. The accident happened around 6:45 a.m. on Friday, October 9th.
The Marion County Fire Rescue was among the first agencies to arrive at the scene. According to Spokesman James Lucas, a dump truck was traveling westbound but had stopped along the northbound shoulder to make a U-Turn. As the driver of the dump truck pulled across the median, he drove directly into the path of an oncoming motorcycle. The two vehicles collided, causing the motorcycle to slide underneath the dump truck before coming to rest. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and the truck driver was not hurt. Neither driver involved has been identified at this time, although troopers did say that the motorcyclist was a 45-year-old man from Dunnellon.
There is no word on whether the driver of the dump truck faces any charges at this time. No additional details are available.
