Monroe County, FL - FHP Responds to Hit-and-Run Crash with Injuries on U.S. 1

Monroe County, FL (September 23, 2020) - The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a hit-and-run accident in Monroe County on Wednesday, September 23rd. The crash was reported just after 8:00 p.m. in the northbound lanes of U.S. 1 near mile marker 99.

According to troopers, at least one person suffered injuries in the crash. The driver who caused the accident fled the scene before authorities could arrive. There is no information on the identity of the suspect at this time or the condition of the injured victim. Police have not released any details on the events leading up to the accident.

An investigation is ongoing and there are no further details available at this time.

Hit-and-run accidents represent a large portion of all reportable crashes. A hit-and-run crash can result in serious injuries and can even be fatal in the worst case.
