New Port Richey, FL - 23-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed in State Road 54 Crash

New Port Richey, FL (September 19, 2020) - A motorcyclist from New Port Richey was killed in a motorcycle crash on Friday night. Police responded to State Road 54 around 8:12 p.m. in reference to the collision.

According to reports from the scene, the motorcyclist was traveling on SR 54 when an 80-year-old man pulled out of the parking lot at an Advanced Auto Parts store. The 80-year-old man pulled directly into the path of the motorcyclist, causing a collision between the two vehicles. The motorcyclist was ejected from his bike. Rescue workers rushed him to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. No one else was hurt in the crash. The deceased victim has not been identified at this time.

There is no additional information. An investigation into the collision is ongoing.

Motorcycles are among the most dangerous and deadly modes of transportation. Each year, Florida motorcycle accidents account for more than 500 traffic-related deaths. Motorcycles make up about 15% of all fatal traffic accidents in Florida despite accounting for only about 3% of all registered motor vehicles in our state.
