Seminole County, FL (October 15, 2020) - A 58-year-old man from Orlando died in a car accident on State Road 417. The crash happened on Wednesday, October 14th.

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the accident scene. Troopers report that the victim was sitting in the bed of a pickup truck when the truck was hit from behind by an approaching SUV. Following the impact, the man was thrown from the truck and landed in the roadway. He died at the scene. Officials have not released the man's identity at this time. There were no other injuries reported in the accident. 

An investigation into the crash is underway. There is no word on potential charges at this time and no further information is available. 

Fatal car accidents take place every day on Florida's roadways. The number of negligent drivers in our state ensures that innocent victims and their families will continue to be harmed in crashes that were not their fault. Sadly, there were more than 3,000 people who were killed in Florida car accidents in 2019 and nearly 250,000 injuries. While certain precautions can and should be taken, many victims are simply unable to avoid these accidents due to the actions of others.
