Volusia County, FL (September 14, 2020) - A man was killed in a car accident that took place in Volusia County on Sunday, September 13th. The crash happened around 1:45 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-95.
According to authorities, a driver was traveling southbound when he collided with a car in front of him. After striking the vehicle, the car continued on, traveled into a median, and struck several trees before coming to rest in a ditch filled with water. When rescue crews arrived on the scene, they located the driver and a passenger suffering from serious injuries. Ultimately, the passenger succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital following the crash. He has not been identified at this time.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the accident. There is no additional information available at this time.
Last year in Florida, approximately 3,000 people were killed in car accidents that took place across our state. Sadly, many of these victims will lose their lives due to the actions of third parties. Negligent drivers play a key role in many Florida car accidents and even a single instance of negligence can result in a catastrophic event with life-changing consequences.
