Jacksonville, FL (October 20, 2020) - Three people lost their lives in a head-on crash that took place in Jacksonville on Monday, October 19th. The fatal accident happened on Heckscher Drive near Huguenot Memorial Park.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene shortly after the crash took place. According to troopers, an 18-year-old female driver was traveling southbound in a sedan. At the same time, a 59-year-old woman was driving a sedan northbound on Heckscher. The first sedan hydroplaned on the roadway, causing the driver to lose control. The car veered into the northbound lanes and collided nearly head-on with the second sedan. A 16-year-old female passenger and two 27-year-old male passengers in the first vehicle were killed in the crash. The 18-year-old driver suffered life-threatening injuries and the 59-year-old driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. None of the victims have been identified at this time.
An investigation into the crash remains ongoing. There are no additional details available.
