According to statistics published by NHTSA, car accidents in Florida occur about once every 92 seconds. Hit-and-run crashes strongly contribute to the overall total number of accidents in our state every year. Last year, more than 100,000 hit-and-run collisions took place in Florida, which accounts for about 25% of all total traffic accidents. Hit-and-run crashes are, unfortunately, becoming more common as victims are injured by drivers who flee the scene and attempt to avoid responsibility for their actions.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim after this accident in Lee County.

Hit-and-run accidents have become an epidemic in Florida, with more than 100,000 of these crashes reported annually. Current statistics indicate that about 25% of all reported car accidents are hit-and-run collisions. Drivers will flee the scene of a crash for a variety of reasons but generally will do so in an effort to avoid taking responsibility for causing a serious crash with catastrophic consequences. Fortunately, there are strong laws in place which seek to punish these drivers when they are caught.
