Cocoa, FL - Pedestrian Killed After Being Hit by Two Vehicles on Clearlake Road

Cocoa, FL (October 21, 2020) - A 39-year-old woman from Cocoa died after being hit by two vehicles on Tuesday, October 20th. The incident took place around 10:00 p.m. at the intersection of Clearlake Road and Atkinson Street.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was standing near the road when she was hit by a vehicle. After being struck by the first vehicle, she was struck by a second vehicle. The second vehicle then fled the scene after striking the woman. The woman was taken to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Her identity has not been released at this time. Officers are searching for the driver of the second vehicle. 

The FHP is still investigating the crash. 

Fatal pedestrian accidents are reported in Florida each day. In fact, there are two fatal Florida pedestrian crashes, on average, each day across our state. Many pedestrians will also suffer serious injuries when they are involved in these incidents. Each pedestrian accident must be carefully investigated in order to determine who should be held responsible.
