Bonita Springs, FL - One Killed in Crash on I-75 near Bonita Beach Road

Bonita Springs, FL (October 27, 2020) - The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating following a fatal crash in Bonita Springs on Monday. The crash was reported around 2:30 a.m. on I-75 near Bonita Beach Road.

According to troopers, a sedan was traveling on I-75 when the car ran off the road and onto the grassy shoulder. While on the shoulder, the vehicle overturned and ejected one of two occupants. A female passenger in the vehicle died at the scene. The 20-year-old male driver of the car was taken to a local hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. Neither of the victims have been identified at this time and there is no word on the cause of the accident.

An investigation remains ongoing at this time. There is no additional information available. 

According to statistics, there were more than 3,000 people killed in car accidents in Florida in 2019. A fatal crash is reported on Florida's roadways about once every three hours. The cause of each crash must be closely investigated, however, many accidents are caused by negligent and careless drivers. In these cases, the negligent motorist can be held accountable for their actions.
