Clearwater, FL (August 22, 2020) - A man was taken to the hospital following a crash involving a car and a motorcycle in Clearwater. The crash happened just before 7:00 p.m. on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard near Lake Avenue.

According to reports, the crash took place at the intersection of Lake Avenue and Gulf-to-Bay. Following the collision, the injured motorcyclist was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Neither the motorcyclist nor the other driver has been identified at this time. Officers have not released the identity of either driver and there is no word on whether any other injuries were sustained in the collision.

Police are still investigating at this time. No additional details are available.

Florida motorcycle accidents frequently result in catastrophic outcomes for the victims. Well over 80% of motorcyclists who are involved in an accident will sustain some type of injury as a result of the crash. Many of these injuries can be serious and even life-threatening as motorcycles are not built to withstand the destructive force of a crash with a larger vehicle.
