Hernando County, FL - 1-Year-Old Boy Killed in Crash in Parking Lot

Hernando County, FL (November 5, 2020) - A 1-year-old boy was killed in a crash that took place on Thursday in Hernando County. The collision happened around 2:30 p.m at 2211 East Norvell Bryant Highway.

According to police, the boy was in a parking lot when he was hit by a pickup truck. The truck was backing up at the time it struck the boy. The boy was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries. There were no other injuries reported.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing at this time. No further details are available.

Each year, around 10,000 injuries are reported in collisions between pedestrians and vehicles. A large number of these injury crashes also involve serious injuries or death to the affected pedestrian. Sadly, this crash is an example of the often serious and fatal nature of pedestrian accidents in our state.
