Alachua County, FL (November 6, 2020) - One person was killed and several others suffered injuries following a car accident in Alachua County on Friday, November 6th. The crash took place around 12:30 p.m. on State Road 20 near County Road 234.

The Florida Highway Patrol was called to the accident scene shortly after the crash occurred. According to a report from the scene, a 22-year-old man was driving a sedan when his car was hit by a pickup truck driven by a 46-year-old man from Ocklawaha. The sedan driver suffered critical injuries and was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. A 21-year-old male passenger in the sedan was hospitalized with critical injuries. The driver of the pickup was also seriously hurt and a passenger in the truck sustained minor injuries.

The deceased victim has not been identified by troopers. There is no word whether any charges are expected and no additional information is available at this time.

According to statistics published by NHTSA, a car accident in Florida takes place about every 92 seconds. Drivers should always remember to remain cautious and vigilant as Florida car accidents can have devastating consequences.
