DeSoto County, FL - One Killed, One Hurt in Crash on State Road 70

DeSoto County, FL (November 10, 2020) - One person was killed and another sustained serious injuries in a car accident that took place in DeSoto County. The crash happened on Tuesday, November 10th around 1:00 p.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol was called to the crash scene following reports of the accident. According to troopers, a 69-year-old woman from Arcadia was stopped at a stop sign when she proceeded into the intersection. As her car entered the intersection, it collided with a second vehicle driven by a 30-year-old Arcadia man. The force of the collision caused the second car to rotate in a northeast direction before slamming into a concrete pole. 

The 69-year-old woman died in the accident while the 30-year-old was taken to a local hospital to be treated for serious injuries. Police have not identified either of the victims at this time. 

An investigation into the accident is ongoing at this time. There is no additional information available. 

Fatal car accidents in Florida take place about once every 3 hours and approximately eight times each day. Last year, approximately 3,000 people were killed and 250,000 sustained injuries in Florida car accidents. There is certainly nothing more devastating than a serious or fatal car accident, especially when you have lost a loved one.
