Alachua County, FL - Pedestrian Killed in Thursday Crash on US 441

Alachua County, FL (November 12, 2020) - A pedestrian was killed in a crash that took place on Thursday in Alachua County. The crash happened in the southbound lanes of U.S. 441.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Mitsubishi Mirage was traveling southbound on U.S. 441 when the driver struck a pedestrian near the Hitchock Market and Mi Apa restaurant. The roadway was slick at the time of the crash due to heavy rain. The pedestrian sustained critical injuries as a result of the accident and died at the scene. The victim's identity has not been released at this time. The driver of the Mitsubishi was not injured in the accident.

The FHP is conducting a crash investigation and there is no word on whether any charges are expected. No additional information is available.
