Manatee County, FL (November 12, 2020) - A trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol was injured in a car accident that took place on I-75. The crash happened on Wednesday, November 11th around 9:30 a.m.

According to a report from troopers, a 20-year-old man from Bradenton was driving a sedan southbound on I-75 when his vehicle hydroplaned near mile marker 216. The sedan collided with a Dodge Charger that was stopped on the shoulder of the roadway before striking a construction vehicle and come to rest about 50 feet from the site of the original crash. The trooper was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. 

An investigation into the accident remains ongoing. There is no further information available.

A reportable crash takes place in Florida about every 92 seconds. First responders and police officers are constantly at risk of being injured in traffic crashes due to the frequency with which they are on the roadways. Fortunately, it appears as though the trooper who was hurt in this Manatee County car accident will make a complete recovery from his injuries.
