According to police, a 37-year-old driver was traveling southbound on Mark Twain when he struck the boy, who had run into the street. The boy was behind trash cans when the crash occurred. Rescue workers arrived at the scene and treated the young child for serious injuries before he was taken to the hospital. There were no other injuries reported in the accident.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating. No further information is available.
We are saddened to hear of this pedestrian accident in Pasco County. Each day in Florida, pedestrians are seriously hurt or killed when they are involved in accidents across our state. A Florida pedestrian accident can certainly be a life-changing event for all involved and many of these accidents occur due to the negligence of third parties on our roadways.
