Citrus County, FL (August 25, 2020) - A teenager was killed and a woman suffered critical injuries in a head-on crash on U.S. 19 in Citrus County. The crash took place on Sunday, August 23rd around 6:30 a.m.
According to officers, a 66-year-old woman from Clearwater was driving northbound in a sedan when she collided head-on with a pickup truck driven by a 19-year-old from Crystal River. Following the initial impact, an SUV driven by a 53-year-old woman from Crystal River collided head-on with the two crashed vehicles. The Crystal River woman was unable to see the two vehicles due to darkness.
The 19-year-old was killed in the accident while the 66-year-old woman from Clearwater sustained critical injuries. The 53-year-old driver suffered minor injuries. None of the victims have been identified at this time. An investigation into the accident remains ongoing.
