Highlands County, FL (August 18, 2020) - Three cars were involved in a serious accident in Highlands County on Monday, August 17th. The crash was reported just after 7:00 a.m. on State Road 70 near Greenbrier Lane.

The Florida Highway Patrol was called to the crash scene shortly after the accident took place. Troopers say that a semi-truck was traveling westbound on SR 70 when it was struck by a second vehicle that was traveling in the same direction. The impact caused the second vehicle to veer across traffic and into the eastbound lanes where it collided with a third vehicle driven by a 25-year-old woman from Lehigh Acres. The Lehigh Acres woman was taken to a hospital for serious injuries while a 1-year-old girl in her vehicle was transported for minor injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle was killed in the crash. That driver's identity has not been released at this time. The truck driver was not injured in the crash.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating. No additional details are available at this time.
