Collier County, FL - One Killed, Two Hurt in Friday Car Accident in Alligator Alley

Collier County, FL (August 15, 2020) - One person was killed and two others sustained injuries in a car accident that took place in Alligator Alley on Friday, August 15th. The crash happened near mile marker 60 around 1:00 a.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene shortly after the accident occurred. According to reports from troopers, a 38-year-old man from Tampa was traveling on I-75 when, for unknown reasons, his car left the roadway. The driver then overcorrected, traveled back onto the road and into the median where his car overturned before coming to rest. A 31-year-old female passenger in the vehicle was ejected during the crash. She died at the crash scene. A 32-year-old female passenger from Clearwater was taken to the hospital in serious condition. The driver was also taken to a hospital with serious injuries. None of those involved have been identified at this time.

Police are still looking into the crash and there is no information on whether charges are expected. No further details have been released at this time.
