Stuart, FL (August 15, 2020) - Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol are investigating following a fatal accident in Stuart on Friday, August 14th. The crash took place around 5:00 p.m. on Southeast Velasquez Avenue near Seville Street.
According to reports from the crash scene, an ambulance was traveling southbound on Velasquez when it crashed into a Martin County bus. The ambulance then collided with a pickup truck that was parked on Seville Street. A 77-year-old patient in the ambulance was pronounced dead at the crash. The ambulance driver and a passenger sustained minor injuries. There is no word on the extent of additional injuries at this time. The roadway was closed for several hours while troopers investigated the accident.
The crash remains under investigation at this time and there is no additional information available.
According to statistics published by NHTSA, a Florida car accident happens somewhere in our state about every 92 seconds and a fatal crash occurs about once every three hours. Sadly, many innocent victims are injured or killed due to the actions of a negligent driver.
