Boynton Beach, FL (November 23, 2020) - Police in Boynton Beach are investigating following a deadly crash on Sunday, November 22nd. The accident happened around 6:00 p.m. on Federal Highway near Ocean Avenue.
According to the Boynton Beach Police Department, 81-year-old Richard James Sullivan was driving a Cadillac SUV on Ocean Avenue. When Sullivan came to the intersection with Federal Highway, he pulled in front of a Suzuki motorcycle driven by 58-year-old Neuvaneide Bezerra. Bezerra suffered critical injuries in the crash and was taken to Delray Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Following an investigation, Sullivan was taken to the Palm Beach County Jail and was charged with driving while impaired. There is no further information available at this time.
In 2018, there were 814 fatalities reported due to drunk driving accidents in our state. This number represents about 30% of all reported fatalities due to traffic accidents. Drunk driving continues to cause major problems throughout Florida as motorists make irresponsible decisions to get behind the wheel of a vehicle, thus endangering their own lives as well as the lives of others.
