Orange County, FL (December 6, 2020) - A man was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Orlando on Friday, December 4th. The crash happened just after 11:00 p.m. on Silver Star Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 63-year-old man tried to cross Silver Star from south to north when he was hit by a car traveling westbound. The driver fled the scene after striking the man and has not been located this time. The identity of the deceased victim is not available.

An investigation is ongoing. No additional details are available. 

Hit-and-run crashes in Florida account for about 25% of all reported crashes in our state. This number may seem high but it reflects the reality of Florida's roadways. Each year, about 400,000 car accidents are reported and more than 100,000 of those crashes are due to hit and run drivers.
