Hamilton County, FL (August 1, 2020) - The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a fatal car accident in Hamilton County in the early morning hours of Saturday, August 1st. The crash was reported just after 5:00 a.m. on I-75 near the intersection with Highway 129.

Troopers arrived on the scene around 5:20 a.m. When they arrived, they discovered that at least one person had been killed in the car accident. There is no word on the victim's identity or the cause of the crash at this time. Motorists in the area were advised to use caution and to find alternate routes if possible as the right-hand and center lanes of I-75 were closed while police worked at the scene. It is not clear if anyone else was hurt in the crash.

There is no additional information and this time and an investigation remains ongoing.

In 2019, there were just over 3,000 fatalities reported due to traffic accidents on Florida's roadways. The number of serious and fatal crashes in our state has continued to climb year after year as more motorists are on our roadways and negligent drivers continue to cause problems for all other drivers. Sadly, Florida car accidents claim the lives of many innocent victims and leave lasting impacts on their families and loved ones.
