Daytona Beach, FL (July 28, 2020) - A 69-year-old woman was killed in a pedestrian crash in Daytona Beach on Monday, July 27th. The crash happened around 6:00 p.m. in the 600 block of South Ridge Road near Cedar Street

According to police, a woman was walking near the intersection when she was hit by a 2013 Lincoln MKZ as she attempted to cross the road. Rescue workers arrived at the scene and rushed the woman to Halifax Health Medical Center where she later succumbed to her injuries on Monday evening. Neither the woman nor the driver of the Lincoln have been identified at this time. The driver stopped his vehicle and remained at the scene until police arrived. However, after speaking with officers, he drove off. There were no other injuries reported.

A final decision has not been made regarding charges at this time and the investigation remains ongoing. No further details are available.

More than 700 people were killed in Florida pedestrian accidents in 2019. On average, two pedestrians are killed each day in these crashes throughout our state.
