Pasco County, FL (July 27, 2020) - A 91-year-old man from New Port Richey was killed in a car accident on State Road 54 in Pasco County on Saturday. The crash happened around 11:15 p.m. at the intersection of SR 54 and Old Millpond Drive.

According to reports from the scene, the 91-year-old man was driving a sedan when he came to a four-way stop at the intersection. He then proceeded into the intersection where his vehicle was involved in a collision with a pickup truck traveling westbound on SR 54. The 91-year-old died as a result of the accident when his car ran off the road and traveled into a pond. The 17-year-old driver of the truck was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. No one involved has been identified.

There is no further information available. 

Fatal car accidents take place in Florida about once every three hours or about eight times per day. This number underscores the frequency with which these types of crashes occur in our state. Motorists, unfortunately, should never assume that they are safe when they get behind the wheel of a car. The presence of negligent drivers always increases the likelihood that a serious crash will take place.
