Hamilton County, FL - Two Killed in Pedestrian Accident on State Road 6

Hamilton County, FL (July 27, 2020) - Two pedestrians were killed in a crash that took place in Hamilton County on Sunday, July 26th. The crash was first reported around 9:20 p.m. on State Road 6.

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene just after the accident took place. According to troopers, a tractor-trailer was traveling eastbound on SR 6. At the same time, a 31-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man were walking in the eastbound lanes when they were hit by the truck. Both pedestrians died at the crash scene. Their identities have not been released at this time and there were no other injuries reported.

The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.

Florida pedestrian accident is a potentially deadly event. Each day across our state, about two fatal crashes are reported involving pedestrians. Last year, over 700 pedestrians were killed in accidents throughout Florida. The cause of fatal pedestrian accidents varies but commonly includes negligent and inattentive driving. This accident will continue to be investigated to determine the cause.
