Gainesville, FL (December 9, 2020) - Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash in Gainesville on Tuesday. The crash took place on SE 27th Street just before 9:00 p.m.
According to a report, a bicyclist was traveling on the southbound shoulder of the roadway when they were hit by a car. The impact caused the bicyclist to be ejected from the bike. Emergency crews responded to the scene and pronounced the bicyclist dead as a result of his injuries. The driver fled the scene. Troopers later located the vehicle in another part of town. An investigation to determine the driver's identity is underway at this time.
