Gainesville, FL - UF Student Killed while Crossing West University Avenue

Gainesville, FL (December 10, 2020) - A student at the University of Florida died in a hit-and-run crash near campus on Wednesday night. The crash happened around 10:50 p.m. in the 2000 block of West University Avenue.

According to a report from the scene, the unidentified female student was walking near West University when she was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound. Rescue workers responded to the scene and pronounced the woman dead. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene following the crash and was last seen driving northbound on Northwest 20th Drive. Police are currently searching for the suspect at this time.
