Orlando, FL - 19-Year-Old Woman Killed in Car Accident on Florida Turnpike

Orlando, FL (December 16, 2020) - A 19-year-old woman was killed in a rear-end collision in Orlando on Tuesday night. The crash happened in the southbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike near the John Young Parkway.

The Florida Highway Patrol was called to the accident scene. According to a report from troopers, the woman was driving a Scion xB on the turnpike when she slowed for traffic in front of her. At the same time, a 41-year-od man from St. Cloud was traveling directly behind the Scion in a Chevrolet Tahoe. The Tahoe driver failed to slow down and crashed into the back of the Scion. The woman suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was not hurt in the crash.

Troopers are still investigating the accident at this time and charges are pending the outcome of the investigation. No further details have been released.

Rear-end collisions can be serious and deadly in nature. While we often think of a rear-end accident as a minor fender-bender, these crashes can also cause catastrophic consequences. A rear-end crash can be especially deadly if it occurs at a high speed and in an area such as a highway where a driver may be distracted before the accident occurs, leaving them little time to mitigate the consequences of a major collision.

Our condolences go out to the victim's family following this fatal car accident in Orlando.
