Spring Hill, FL (December 19, 2020) - A 12-year-old boy lost his life in a crash that took place while he was skateboarding in Spring Hill this week. The crash took place on Tuesday, December 15th at approximately 6:30 p.m.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the 12-year-old boy was riding his skateboard in a driveway when he traveled into the roadway and was hit by a pickup truck. The accident occurred on Norvell Road near Ludlow Lane. The boy was airlifted to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday. The driver of the pickup was not hurt in the accident.
Troopers are investigating the incident. There have been no charges filed at this time and no further details have been released.
Fatal crashes in Florida happen about once every three hours. In 2019, there were more than 3,000 fatalities reported due to traffic accidents in our state. There is nothing more devastating than the sudden loss of a loved one due to a traffic crash.
