Lee County, FL - Multiple Injuries Reported in Car Accident on State Road 80

Lee County, FL (July 15, 2020) – Police and paramedics were called to the scene of a crash involving two vehicles in Lee County on Wednesday, July 15th. A call first came in regarding the crash just before 2:30 p.m. According to reports, the crash happened on State Road 80 close to the intersection with Alameda Avenue.

The exact details of the crash are unclear at this time. However, police report that a 21-year-old woman was driving a sedan eastbound on State Road 80. As she came to the intersection with Alameda Avenue, the woman attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Alameda. As she was turning, she traveled into the path of an oncoming sedan carrying four passengers and being driven by a 17-year-old. The two cars collided with one another.

Following the crash, the 17-year-old’s sedan caught fire and burst into flames. The 21-year-old driver suffered serious injuries as a result of the accident. A 10-year-old passenger in her car was also hurt. The 17-year-old driver, a 33-year-old woman, a 1-year-old boy, and a 19-year-old woman all suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the accident.

No one involved in the crash has been identified at this time. Police are still investigating the accident and have not determined whether any charges will be filed.
