The Palm Harbor Fire Rescue, along with the Florida Highway Patrol, responded to the crash scene. Investigators believe that the boy was struck after two cars collided in the roadway and one of the vehicles spun out of control. The teenage victim was airlifted to St. Joseph's Hospital where he was listed in critical condition as of Monday evening. There is no word on whether any other injuries were reported.

The FHP is investigating the crash at this time. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.

According to statistics from NHTSA, a car accident takes place in Florida about once every 92 seconds. While not all crashes result in injuries, many of them do and they can be serious in nature. Pedestrians, in particular, are more likely to sustain serious injuries in a car accident. Some common injuries sustained in Florida pedestrian accidents include broken bones, scars, head trauma, and more. Sadly, many pedestrians are hurt due to the negligence of other motorists.

We would like to offer our thoughts and well-wishes to the young teenager and his family following this pedestrian crash in Palm Harbor.
