Zephyrhills, FL (December 29, 2020) - A motorcyclist died in a head-on crash in Zephyrhills on Monday, December 28th. The accident took place around 5:45 a.m. on Paul Buchman Highway near County Line Road. 

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the accident scene. According to troopers, a 40-year-old motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Paul Buchman when a car traveling southbound attempted to pass other vehicles. The car slammed into the motorcyclist nearly head-on. The motorcyclist died at the crash scene. His identity has not been released at this time. The driver of the car, a 52-year-old man from Zephyrhills, sustained minor injuries. There were no other vehicles involved in the accident.

Troopers are investigating at this time and there is no word on whether charges are expected.

Fatal accidents in Florida claim the lives of about 3,000 people each year. When a deadly accident occurs, authorities must determine who is at fault. In cases of drivers traveling the wrong way, the fault for the accident is normally evident.
